I love Plum, part 2: Visiting the Plum headquarters in Suwa, Nagano Prefecture

May 2026

After spending a few days at the in-laws' place in Nagano Prefecture during Golden Week, we took a detour on the way home and stopped by the Plum PMOA headquarters building in Suwa. This is the third relocation for the official Plum store, which is now located on the ground floor of the tall Plum HQ building. In Greg's Life #107, I showed the first two locations of the Plum shop in Suwa, as well as their shop in Tokyo. Now let me give you a tour of the new store.

Here is their tall HQ building. Tall building is tall.

The Plum shop is on the first floor of the building.

The main reason I love Plum is that they make plastic models of so many awesome retro shooter games. Both old and new Raiden games, Rayforce, Assault Suits Valken, and so on.

Ray force, Power Dolls 2, and Wolf Fang models. Power Dolls is a tactical simulation game. The first Power Dolls game came out on the PC-FX and the sequel came out on the Playstation. To the right you can see the new Wolf Fang models.

Right: Gradius models.

Left: This is a Gradius Vic Viper plastic model next to a pre-built, pre-painted collector's model. Right: The Darius Burst Silverhawk model I built a few years back.

Left: The R-Type model kits. Mine became a shelf queen many years ago. This was my second model lighting project but I couldn't achieve what I had envisioned. My skills couldn't keep up with my ambitious ideas, and I had to yank the wires out of the force orb I'd lit up. I'll have to redo the whole thing and I hate working with magnet wires. I really should get back to that project. Right: Plum's character mascot acrylic stands. These are mascots for various cities in Nagano Prefecture.

Left: The mecha from Murakumo. I bought that game for the Xbox, but then my Xbox croaked. I thought it was a bit too easy and gave up on the game before I got too far. Right: Evangelion paints by Gaia Notes.

These are figures of those same city mascots.

There are non-Plum models here too. Megami Device, Frame Arms Girls, 30 Minutes Sisters, and other girl-figure model kits are quite popular these days.

Stickers galore.

They still have a showcase of completed models for display in the store.

Lots of Plum merchandise.

Right: I'm not sure if this is the building where they inject the molds or where they box the kits.

As I showed in the previous post for this store, they sell Plum drinks too. Here is a bottled water as well as peach juice for my daughter. It made her happy. It was her birthday that day.s

Thanks for looking!

So there was a time that I worked at a video game store in the '90s...
