Background:
This game is based on the wildly popular TV series: Tenchi Muyo, currently on Cartoon Network. However, this game is based on the very first OVA, more precisely right after "Night before the Carnival." Anyway, since it's based on the OVA's, Nagi and Kiyone aren't in it. :( I wish Kiyone was in it.

Graphics: 9
All the characters are faithfully reproduced in this RPG. Each one of them looks exactly like they do in the OVA. Their personalities are present too. Ryoko tries to get Tenchi and ends up fighting with Ayeka, again, while Mihoshi cries all the time and acts like the ditz she is, while Washu is, well, Washu! The new bad girl, Kusumi, is also really cool, even if she does look like a guy.

Control: 7
Eh, the control's all right. You never actually control the gang in a field, just through battles. Each character can move in a small area of usually two to three spaces anywhere, though Ryoko & Washu can teleport, thus are able to go over water or cliffs.

Music: 8
The music isn't too bad. The theme isn't in here, but it's no big deal. The tunes aren't annoying, but not memorable.

Story: 7
Well, this new bad girl named Kusumi kidnaps Sasami while she's getting Washu for breakfast. She copies Washu and creates her own "daughter", Misuki. See, Kusumi is Washu's rival, and now she is trying to kill Washu. There's other twists too. The gang is also funny, as in one part where they have to fight Ryo-Okie clones, Tenchi feels bad about fighting Ryo-Okie, but Ryoko wonders why he didn't feel the same way about her. It's a riot.

Gameplay: 9
The gameplay rocks. Each character can learn up to four attacks. Some attack one enemy, while a few attack all. All attacks are powered by Kiai, the green diamond things on the status bar. One of the cool things is that Yosho, Tenchi, Ayeka, Sasami, Mihoshi, Ryoko & Washu can morph into more powerful suits. Yosho goes all black, Tenchi, Ayeka, Mihoshi & Ryoko don their battle suits, and Washu goes into Nurse mode. Sasami turns into Pretty Girl Magical Sammy. These modes are neccessary to beat Kusumi, and are really powerful. You only control the gang during battles, though, so the game is really linear.

Other Stuff:
As I said, the game is super linear. You can't really explore anywhere. Oh, and there are twelve characters you can play as. You can pick four before each battle. The characters are: Tenchi, Ayeka, Sasami, Ryoko, Mihoshi, Ryo-Okie, Yosho, Mihoshi's ship's robot thing, Azaka, Kamidake, Miszuki, & Washu. The levels aren't real high, you only need to be at level 8 in order to win.

Overall:
Overall this game is cool for Tenchi fans. Those seeking Final Fantasy like adventures should stay away. Now that I'm thinking, this game would have been better off as a Game Boy game rather than an SNES game. Maybe we'll see it on Game Boy Advance. (Ninetendo? Are you listening?)
